Weed Management Area

Northeast Nebraska Weed Management Area (NNWMA) covers an eight county area of 4,610,212 acres on private, public, & tribal land whose northern boundary is the Missouri National Recreational River, a component of the National Park and Wild & Scenic Rivers System. The four priority noxious and invasive weed species and their total infestations are: leafy spurge 102,307 acres; Purple Loosestrife 3,102 acres; Spotted Knapweed 4,925 acres; Saltcedar 10 acres. Currently, weed control efforts use an integrated pest management approach. Hundreds of infested acres are bio-control sites and numerous acres are sprayed, mechanically and culturally treated by landowners and/or counties.
In the next two years, NNWMA will focus on six priorities.
