2016 RC&D Annual Meeting & Awards Presentations
The Council approved their 2017-2018 Plan of Work and accepted a new project, a third Grant Writing Workshop which will be held in Plainview with the date to be announced. This type of training has been requested by past participants. Four projects were also accepted as completed –Nebraska Natural Legacy, Grassland Habitat Evaluation, Newsletter 2010 and Farm-to-School.
Current officers were all re-elected: Jim Rabe, President, Wayne; Dennis Wacker, Vice-President from Osmond; Janet Gill, Treasurer, Bloomfield; and Joan Alexander, Secretary of Plainview.
The Council enjoyed giving out some fun yet important awards. Brook Curtiss of the Plainview News received an “EXTRA EXTRA! Special Award” for continued newspaper coverage and support all year long of RC&D Councils activities. An “Above & Beyond” award was given to Brad Kellogg for his help with historical interpretation, project planning, fundraising efforts and more. Rebekah Jessen was recognized with the “World’s Best Partner Award” for her support of the RC&D Council as well as giving much to the organization in planning the wildlife and wildflower projects. Additionally Donna Christiansen and the Plainview Library were recognized with a Special Assistance Award for helping out with the RC&D Council’s computer issues, meetings and office staff needs. Shelly Johnston, Casey’s General Stores, and Teresa Liermann of Family Dollar were given Outstanding Farmers Market Promotional Assistance awards for their weekly help in advertising items available at the market.
The RC&D Council looks forward to continuing their service to citizens through projects that will make life better for people in Antelope, Cedar, Dixon, Knox, Pierce, and Wayne counties.
