COUNCIL NEWS

2/26/2016

RC&D Board members from Winside hosted the Council at their public library with a soup supper and then meeting.  Discussion was held on the Pork ‘n Cork event to be held at Nissen Winery’s Outlaw Trail Center near Hartington.  This will be a fun’d raising endeavor which will also include a free Humanities Nebraska program.  The date will be determined based on the speaker’s availability.

The Prairie Chickens & Pasque Flowers Tour was tentatively set for Saturday, April 2nd.  Participants will be treated to an up-close view of the mating ritual of the birds, topnotch speakers, breakfast and a short hike to see one of Nebraska’s native wildflowers the Pasque Flower.  More information will be available soon.

The RC&D Council received word from the Nebraska Environmental Trust that the second year of their project to properly recycle electronics and household hazardous waste was recommended for a grant award of $20,705.  Once bids have been received and selected, the RC&D will begin making plans to host these recycling collections during 2016.

Dennis Wacker received a Nebraska basket as a gift for his untiring service to the RC&D Council.  He is the Council’s handyman, creative genius, staff supervisor, and much more.  He received a hearty thanks from the board for his efforts.
The RC&D Council looks forward to continuing their service to citizens through projects that will make life better for people in Antelope, Cedar, Dixon, Knox, Pierce, and Wayne counties.
