The Northeast Nebraska Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) Council met January 25th to get things going for the new year. A budget of $70,000 was approved and two board member resignations were accepted from Jerry and Susan Fields, Antelope County representatives. Board members stated their appreciation for Jim Meuret who’s continued supporting the RC&D as their landlord.
One new project was approved, the Prairie Chickens and Pasque Flowers Tour. Rebekah Jessen with Northern Prairie Lands Trust and Nebraska Game & Parks Commission will lead this event which is tentatively scheduled for March. Participants will be able to view the mating ritual of the prairie chicken from a blind and then tour a grassland site that is home to the native perennial Pasque flower and other woodland flowers.
An RC&D fundraising and awareness event is being planned for 2016 which will highlight the Outlaw Trail Center and Nissen Winery. More information will be coming on both the tour and event.
The RC&D Council looks forward to continuing their service to citizens through projects that will make life better for people in Antelope, Cedar, Dixon, Knox, Pierce, and Wayne counties.
